I RXed that WOD!

Ok, for those of you unfamiliar with Crossfit Wods  or workouts, there is a prescription for each WOD.  How the coach wants you do to the workout.  A lot of us, esp those of us a little less fit, or new, or whatever, scale things down to where we can do it.  But the goal is to RX the workout, or do it how it was meant to be done.

I RXed the WOD tonight.   It was 20 min AMRAP( as many rounds as possible) of

20 hand release pushups
50 air squats.

I did good old on my toes pushups.  So what if by my last round, 5 in all, I was doing 2 pushups then taking a break, 2 push ups, break, until I got my 20 in.  I did them on my toes dang it!

And this was after the warmup and deadlift strength work. Like I said yesterday, I love me some deadlifts!

I was a little light in calories today according to my calculations.  I sort of forgot my cashews at home, and they would have put me right where I want to be.  Oh well, one day of fewer calories might just do me some good.

Tomorrow, provided its not raining, I'm planning on going out for a run/walk to see how I do.

I wonder when we will ever find our one rep max again?  I bet I could deadlift more now.  And maybe squat more too.

Oops been a little while

So I suck at posting.  Sue me!  You won't get much.

I signed up for my 3rd 5K today.  I think I may have gone insane.  I'm doing my 3rd 5K.  OMG!  And I'm planning on running more of it that I did last time too.  Really and for true.   I'm gonna try to get done in 40 mins or less.  But if I can get done in under 45min I will be under my last 5K time so its all good!

Today's WOD was a good one.  Except for the whipping I took lol.
14 mins as many rounds as possible or  AMRAP

40 Double unders ( sub 120 regular jumps)
25wall balls
10 deadlifts

I had a 12lbs ball, I wanted heavier but the 14lbs were gone, and I was to wimpy to use a 20lbs ball
I also used 145lbs for the deadlifts. I LOVE LOVE LOVE deadlifts!!!!!  I really could have done 25 deadlifts and 10 wall balls and been happy.

I did manage to do some double unders.  And I managed to whip myself with my rope.  Oh well.  Bruises fade. But double unders/jumping rope get you into shape!   Or kill you, whatever.

I've started a cute notebook to track my food and my workouts.   Its got shoes all over the cover, cause well, I'm a shoeaholic.  But sadly, none are crosstrainers.

I'm already looking forward to tomorrows WOD.   Then I'm planning a run/walk on Fri.   I've got to find my timer so I can start tracking my time cause I want to get better at running so bad.

Offically in training!

Yep.  I'm considering all workouts to be me training.

I'm always amazed how much better I feel when I get 3-4 workouts in a week.  Be it Crossfit, or out for a run/walk or whatever.  I sleep better, I'm happier, its easier for me to eat cleaner cause I don't want to ruin good results from workouts.  And everything just feels tighter, and I'm not talking my clothes.  I'm meaning my butt feels tighter, higher, my arms seem like they giggle less, my stomach seems smaller.

Today's WOD was   50 alt pistols,  14 dips, 14 pushups or ring rows, 10 hand cleans.  I used  75lbs for cleans, and think I could have bumped it up to 80-85lbs to be honest.  Maybe next time.

I also did some bench press with 75%-85% and 95% of my one rep max.  Well, not quite, but very close.  I think I topped out with 110lbs for 4reps and it should have been 115lbs.  Close enough.    I'd really like to get my bench press a little higher, but I'm having a little trouble getting it up there.  I just need to work on it.

The weekend wasn't good on my eating.  I need to work on not overdoing it on weekends.  I do pretty well during the week.  Not perfect, but a vast improvement over how I use to eat.  But the weekends are where I seem to need more help.  I wish my hubby cared just a little more about eating well.  He doesn't and that makes it harder when he fixes supper more often than not.  I try to do my best, but well, it would be easier if he cared at all.   When he worked evenings, and I fixed supper, I could make some really good healthy stuff and he'd  not want to eat the veggies.  Oh well, more for me!

I'm just going to have to step it up, and maybe just fix my own supper when I get home from my WOD.

You can just call me an athlete!

Because I have gone and signed up for a Crossfit competition in Sept.

Somehow, when I was oxygen deprived, I decided that signing up for the Master Women division was a wonderful idea, and I did it,

So, now I'm not just a chubby mom of 43 looking to get into better shape doing Crossfit.  I'm a Crossfit athlete training for a competition.    How about that.

So, I've got just under 3 months to work hard, and get so I don't totally embarrass myself. I don't mind coming in last, cause someone has to. I just don't want to feel like I did bad.

I hit Crossfit Mon and Tue.  And today, my shoulders were so sore I just couldn't make myself go.  So I hit the nature trail and did 3 miles of walk/run.  Should have timed myself so I can keep track of any improvements.  I'll look for my gymboss so I can start timing myself.   I ran portions of each quarter mile, except for one.  I was getting tired and hungry.  I'm going to try and do more run/walks or in my case for now, more walks than runs, on off Crossfit days.  I will always give myself one day just off, cause a rest day is so needed.

And then, shortly after I signed up for my competition, I found this on either Tumblr or Pinterest.

Its now my new motto til at least Sept 7th.  Maybe longer if it helps.

I should have gone heavier

Yep, I really should have packed more weight on that dang bar today.  I know I could have easily gone 10lbs heavier.

The WOD today was 3 rounds for time of
50 air squats
14 pullups or ring rows
14 ring dips or box dips
10 hang cleans

I did 65lbs for hang cleans, and I really should have done 75lbs or even 80lbs.  Oh well.

I managed in 15min 35 seconds.

I really need to work on my cardio capacity, cause mainly it was slowing down to catch my breath.
